How Do They Work?

Similar to a ducted reverse cycle only there is a straight duct attached to the indoor unit and is designed for a large area. The bulkhead system uses the same concept to heat or cool the air as any reverse cycle. A reverse cycle system utilizes refrigerant gas and an external compressor to convert the gas into either a liquid or a vapor. Copper pipes within the system are then heated or cooled, and an internal fan circulates air over these pipes to generate either hot or cold air.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between ducted and bulkhead units?

A bulkhead system caters to a single room, while a ducted system serves multiple rooms in a home or business.

Is bulk head system cheap to run?

Operating costs can vary significantly, starting from as low as $0.25 per hour for a small unit cooling a small space or up to $3.00 per hour. Generally it will be determined on how you use the system and the temperature settings. However, with careful usage, efficient systems, and proper maintenance, these costs can be minimized.

How often do I need to clean the filters?

For daily air conditioner users, cleaning the filter monthly is recommended, while those using it less often can clean it every three months. A cleaner filter ensures better performance.
